The Guide to Quy Nhon Vietnam

I bet you’ve probably never heard of Quy Nhon Vietnam; but it might just be our favorite place in Vietnam. Now, I’m going to be honest, Quy Nhon is not for everyone — it’s not the big city, speaking English is limited. You will get stares and glares — but other than that, it’s a fun, lively, cultural beach town with delicous Vietnamese eats.

I was introduced to Quy Nhon, when my daughter and I were sent to this quaint Vietnamese town for two years for work as an English teacher trainer.

I had no idea what to expect when I arrived on an early August morning. I found empty beaches (that later in the day came alive ), buzzing local markets, and coffee shops on every corner open at 6:00 am, which. changed my mornings forever.

As Black Americans my daughter and I were an anomaly to the Quy Nhon citizens. Everyone stared and was so curious, not in a mean-spirited way, but really curious of why we wanted to come to Quy Nhon. I told them I didn’t have a choice, I was selected to go to Quy Nhon, but looking back it was the most life changing event that has happened to me in a long time.

Most travelers rush in and out of Quy Nhon, but I had no choice but to stay put for two years, and I am glad I did as it revealed a side of Vietnam that will stay in my heart forever.
